As momentum builds around Net Zero, pressure is growing on businesses and policymakers to act quickly. But in fresh produce, restricting airfreight can cause unintended harm — from lost livelihoods in the Global South to emissions shifting elsewhere — raising questions of climate justice.
The March 2025 Fairmiles workshop highlighted the need for practical guidance to help buyers and policymakers make responsible Net Zero decisions. This next workshop will focus on co-developing that guidance, ensuring climate goals are met without undermining equity or development.
