Beyond Unconscious Bias: Addressing the Black Awarding Gap through Systemic and Inclusive Practice in Higher Education

This research project, supported through the University of Northampton’s Access and Participation Plan (APP), aimed to critically examine the institutional roots of the persistent Black awarding gap. By centring student and staff narratives, it challenged the over-reliance on unconscious bias training and instead explored deeper, systemic solutions to racial inequities in student outcomes.

This event was open to staff members, and about 18 people attended.
