Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsWebinarResearch

This free online event will include a number of talks by researchers in the field of young onset dementia highlighting different ways in which people can get involved with research.

The event is part of the DEFIN-YD project (Dementia Experts for Involvement Network for Younger People with Dementia) which sets out to share knowledge about young dementia research (which is dementia diagnosed under 65 years of age) and to create a younger people with dementia and their families’ public and patient involvement (PPI) network.

The aim is to develop ideas for future research in this area. There is a recognized gap in this area, with younger people with dementia reporting that they do not know where to find information on social care/health and wellbeing research, or how to be involved as participants or PPI representatives and co-creators in dementia research. This project therefore aims to address this gap and provide a valuable resource to support both those living with young onset dementia to gain knowledge about social care, well-being, and health research in dementia and how it may be of benefit to them, to provide a greater understanding of what taking part in research means, the value of taking part, and how to get involved.

The talks in this event will be delivered by leading researchers in the field of young onset dementia, including people living with young onset dementia themselves.

This free event will take place over a Zoom webinar, so please sign up if you would like to attend.
