Evaluation of the undergraduate and postgraduate international student pre-arrival and initial orientation experience at the University of Northampton

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsConference PresentationKnowledge Exchange

Description

International students contribute exponentially to local and national economies, adding a richness of culture and diversity to communities, both within and outside of university life. Commonly international students aspire to high quality education, strong research reputation and career opportunities, recognised globally whilst developing higher-level skills for learning (Lillyman and Bennett, 2014; Cowley and Hyams–Ssekasi, 2018). However, international students face multiple challenges transitioning through university at pre-departure, post-departure, and post-study (Khanal and Gaulee, 2019) impacting on their sense of belonging. This project focussed on the pre-arrival and initial orientation of international students at UON.
