Fellowship spotlight: Gillian Siddall. Exploring the transition of international students to UK Higher Education (HE) and how they adapt to studying on a taught masters programme.

Activity: Other Knowledge Exchange or Research Activity › Blogging activity › Knowledge Exchange

Description

Using participatory photography, the research focused on the experience of international students transitioning to study on a postgraduate course at a UK university. Student co-researchers took photographs and captioned them according to general prompts provided by the researcher. Together the student co-researchers discussed the photographs and grouped them into themes. These themes were then presented in a photographic exhibition alongside extracts from the transcribed research discussions: conscious decision-making, emotional impact and environment and place.
