Fostering Inclusive Learning Environments in Postgraduate Education: A Case Study from Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsConference PresentationResearch

Description

This presentation explores the development and implementation of inclusive education strategies within a postgraduate Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme at the University of Northampton. Drawing on principles of Active Blended Learning (ABL) and informed by Changemaker values, the session demonstrates how curriculum design, assessment, and academic support were adapted to nurture a sense of belonging among a diverse cohort of students, particularly those from international and underrepresented backgrounds. The initiative introduced practical case studies reflecting varied cultural contexts, flexible assessment formats aligned with students' professional aspirations, and enhanced formative feedback opportunities. Emphasis was placed on creating an inclusive academic community, encouraging peer-led collaboration, and providing targeted study skills support. Early outcomes indicate improvements in student engagement, satisfaction, and perceived inclusivity. This case study highlights how small, yet strategic interventions can meaningfully advance social justice in higher education and better prepare students for global employability. The session will offer reflections on challenges, lessons learned, and practical recommendations for embedding inclusive practices within programme leadership and module delivery.
