Getting your ducks in a row – Getting the basics right with AI

Activity: Academic Talks or Presentations › Webinar › Knowledge Exchange

Description

Rob Howe is Head of Learning Technology at The University of Northampton. He is Co-Chair of the University Centre for Active Digital Education and also the Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group. He has co-authored several chapters and books on Artificial Intelligence. Whilst talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not new (it has been around over 60 years), recent developments are meaning that we do need to have some understanding of the benefits and risks for ourselves and the organisations we lead and work within. Whilst it is easy to be swayed by the new ‘shiny’ tools which are being released at an increasingly rapid pace, we need to ensure that we are adequately prepared first. This short talk will cover the need for AI information governance; the ethical implications of AI; and provide some tips on where to look for information to try and avoid being swamped by daily media.
