Description
This was a roundtable discussion which sought to engage with the question of what ‘attention’ means to researchers working within the context of art, design and other cognate disciplines that are practice-based. To this end, the roundtable considered how research within this context utilises particular modes of attention. On the basis of the call for submissions, and, given the fact that, according to artist Moyra Derby, “as a response mechanism to external stimuli, attention is culturally and contextually dependent,” the roundtable also explored how our modes of attention as researchers might help us examine, understand and provide solutions to the so-called ‘post-pandemic malaise’ and the sense of ‘impending doom’ that saturates life in the 2020s.
