Description
This presentation was delivered to the Greenwich Borough network of PSHE leads. We talked about the value and importance of friendship for children, and some of the evidence showing how peer relationships shape social and emotional development. In relation to the statutory Relationships Education for primary schools, we introduced the 'Our Class' resources that we have developed for schools as a result of our research into friendship quality in middle childhood. We talked about the content and format of the resources, which are mapped onto the statutory guidance under 'Caring friendships', and also highlighted statistics on downloads to date and the positive feedback from our expert panel, educators who have used the materials and children who have participated in the lessons. We invited PSHE leads to consider using the materials in their schools, and invited them to be part of our ongoing evaluation of impact.Period | 13 Jun 2024 |
