Reflections on Practice Co-created by Experts and Novices Using Video Collaboration Software

Activity: Academic Talks or PresentationsConference Presentation

Description

This presentation reports on the findings of a project that uses IrisConnect as video collaboration software. IRIS Connect gives teachers the opportunity to record classroom-based teaching and learning or capture online teaching. Teachers can reflect on teaching and learning, analyse practice, add time-stamped comments, edit their videos and share with colleagues or leaders for feedback. This project will explore the versatility of IRIS Connect as a ABL tool using Initial Teacher Training (ITT) students to co create the content. It will use IRIS Connect to work initially with Initial Teacher Training (ITT) students and their school based mentors to explore the ways in which IRIS Connect technology can be applied to developing the skills, knowledge and understanding of ITT students in various stages of their training. It will allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of reflecting upon ones teaching skills and the potential for remote observations in schools.
