In this presentation, a case was made, using Relevance Theory, to consider using sacred texts in cultural research. Sacred texts include the Bible and the Qur'an and they represent texts to which followers of the relevant faiths subscribe. This can enhance cultural research by providing interviewees with some cognitive gain that is worthwhile their time.
