Research Leadership Development Consortium webinar session on ‘Developing Reflexivity and Resilience in Research Leadership’

Activity: Organising a conference or workshopResearch

Description

This session will explore the intertwined themes of reflexivity and resilience. We are delighted to have two great speakers, Professor Maria Piacentini, Professor of Consumer research and Marketing at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), where she currently serves as Associate Dean for Research, Professor Omar Al-Tabbaa, Professor in International Business (IB) and strategy, and the Director of Research and Innovation at Leeds University Business School, and Professor Steve Johnson, Professor of Business and Innovation at Leeds Trinity University. We will hear from them in terms of their own academic leadership journeys in terms of how reflexive practices can strengthen leadership approaches amidst increasing pressures and uncertainty.

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and collectively we will consider the importance of cultivating resilience not merely as individual endurance, but as a collective, relational practice supported by inclusive cultures and support networks. We will consider how reflexivity enables leaders to balance performance metrics with academic values, and to adapt with integrity during crises or change. The session will be chaired by Professors Finola Kerrigan (University of Birmingham) and Shaowei He (University of Northampton).
