Although mass manufacturing has led to increased consumption, only 1 per cent to 2 per cent of the textile waste stream is currently recycled. This results in a growing number of products reaching the end of life (EOL). British designer and researcher Emmeline Child has been an early adopter and pioneer in the field of upcycling materials, recognising the necessity and value of reusing this vital resource.

During the Empey Lecture in Human Ecology, Emmeline will present "Scaling Up — Navigating Redesign with UK Textile Waste Streams.". In her talk, she will share her commitment to sustainable fashion practices, the challenges she has encountered, and her personal mission to identify scalable solutions
