Social Innovation and Impact: Funding, Publishing and Measurement

The talk will focus on the field of social innovation and the measurement of impact within it. The three main themes to be explored will be the funding of social innovation research, its dissemination in academic journals and other outlets, and the measurement of impact within the research itself and the socially innovative activities. The aim of the presentation is for the audience to come away with a broad understanding of the different funding sources that can be accessed, as well as how universities can approach this. Further, avenues for current and potential research into social innovation, alongside relevant methodological approaches, will be outlined in order to demonstrate the wide applicability of approaches to social innovation scholarship. Finally, there will be a top-level exploration of social impact measurement, to illustrate how academics can evidence the impact of their own research, as well as support socially innovative organisations to measure theirs.
