Description
The purpose of this roundtable event was to discuss the issue of how we address the emissions caused by Airfreighted fresh produce in a way which aligns with the principles of a 'just transition', and ensures that commercial actors are able to meet their Net Zero goals without risking the human rights and socio-economic securities of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the global south. This event was attended by 178 attendees from 38 different countries.Dr Ebenezer Laryea's presentation focused on his most recent Climate Justice research which shows unequivocally that there are significantly negative climate justice implications associated with a limit or ban on airfreighted fresh produce. The presentation also highlighted a number of solutions upon which commercial actors can rely to integrate climate justice principles within their Net Zero policy formulation and implementation.
