Description
This exhibition showcased the photographs by students on the MSc Public Health programme, who started their course in the 2023-2024 academic year. The exhibition is part of a project that used a method called photovoice, or participatory photography. This involved my co-researchers taking photographs of places and things that captured the differences between their home and the UK, and explained their experiences studying here. The co-researchers then took part in research interviews, talking about the photographs and how they related to their experiences. All the co-researchers are international students who came to the UK to study on the MSc Public Health. The exhibition presented photographs my co-researchers took as part of the project. Some images may feature in the exhibition multiple times as they sparked different emotions and ideas amongst the co-researchers. The photographs were presented individually and as montages. Quotations from the research interviews were also part of the exhibition.
On each image was a credit, identifying who took the image. Everyone chose the name and location they wanted to be credited to their images; some are real, others are pseudonyms, or places they feel affiliated too.
