Activity: Academic Talks or Presentations › Workshop › Research
Description
This introductory tutorial is intended for academics and practitioners who want to learn how to analyse audio/video-recorded social interaction, in an attempt to gain insight into which communication strategies are effective and which are less effective. The tutorial will introduce and exemplify the core of CA’s analysis of talk, which is represented by the interconnection between social action, turn-taking and turn design, sequence organisation, intersubjectivity, and epistemics. CA transcription, data anonymization, and data-handling will also be covered. By the end of this tutorial, participants will understand how to undertake conversational analytic research, with an application to the study of group decision and negotiation.
