Description
Semi-structured interviews with 15 men who work as midwives in the UK. The interviews are in-depth and lasted on average 90 minutes. The dataset consists of anonymised interview transcripts.
These interviews formed the basis for a PhD study which explored how gender was experienced by men in perhaps the world's last almost mono-gendered profession.
The interviews were inductive and participants discussed how gender became an obstacle to be negotiated, they recognised becoming sexualised at work and they sought to understand the meaning of being a minority for the first time as men.
