    Description

The Searchlight Archive is a leading international collection of material on antifascism, the extreme and radical right as well as topics like racism, antiracism, student protest, community activism and investigative journalism. Located in its own secure archive room with temperature control, the Archive has rolling lockable racks and a dedicated archivist. The Archive is based around its main collection, the organisational and investigative records of Searchlight magazine, a leading British antifascist publication founded as a newspaper in 1964, emerging from the Jewish antifascist 62 Group. Several other collections have joined this, including oral histories. The Archive is operated by the History team within the Culture subject area within the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology. Previously the archive was co-located with the University Archive, and was operated by the Faculty of Education and Humanities and before that the School of Social Sciences.
