Description of impact

Tudor's research encouraged workers at the Workbridge coffee shop, a life skills charity affiliated with St. Andrews Healthcare, to change their waste disposal habits through an increase in the collection of compostable materials. While the research focused on coffee waste, the project resulted in a general increase in composting food waste items amongst shop service users.

How have research outputs led to this impact?

The research, funded by Halo Coffee, looked at the compostability of coffee capsules. 10 different offices in Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire were given composters and different types of coffee capsules to evaluate how various coffee capsules responded to composting.
