Personal profile

Biography

I am an early career researcher and Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice at the University of Northampton, with over 30 years of broad operational policing experience. My personal research focuses on police ethics, ethical policing, and police education. I also co-research strategic ethical issues relevant to policing in London as a member of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) London Policing Ethics Panel. In addition, I work with UK police forces as a member of the Independent Academic Advisory Group for Project Vigilant—a national initiative aimed at preventing sexual violence by targeting predatory behaviour in the night-time economy.

Driven by a strong commitment to social justice, I engage in research on access and participation in higher education and serve as a reviewer for Advance HE’s Race Equality Charter applications. I also contribute to research integrity and the protection of participants as a member of the Open University Human Research Ethics Committee.

Drawing on my policing background, I support public security education as a Senior Associate with the Matthew B. Ridgway Center at the University of Pittsburgh. I also bring industry insight as a senior advisor on strategic communication projects aimed at countering extremism in the UK and the MENA region.
