Biography
I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Northampton. I have been actively involved in teaching, research and administrative activities for the last 25 years. I taught at reputable universities in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia besides monetary policy research and implementation at the State Bank of Pakistan. I hold PhD in investigations of financial fragility in banking systems. Over this long journey, I have designed, reviewed and taught more than 20 modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including the MBA executive programs. Currently, I am leading course modules on risk management and equity investment at University of Northampton. I have also contributed in training and development of civil servants and mid-career corporate professionals in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. My main teaching areas include economics, finance, accounting, banking and risk management.
I understand and give value to honesty, diversity and openness. I also encourage students and provide support towards professional qualifications including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
Research Interests
Currently I am more enthusiatic about research on sustainable finance options in corporate strategies. However, I am open to ideas that can make a change or having an impact on our lives.
Traditionally I work on corporate finance, banking, risk management and investment strategies.
Industry Connections
I worked for the State Bank of Pakistan (Central Bank) in roles alligned with monetary policy formulation and financial stability of the banking system. This unique experience has enhanced my teaching with practical knowledge of monetary policy transmission mechanism and risk assessments in the banking industry.
Supervision
I have co-supervised PhD thesis on "Sustainability in the domains of health, climate change and alternative energy in the era of globalization" awarded jointly by University of Karachi and Maastricht University to Mohsin Raza. I am willing to accept PhD students in Sustainable Finance, Corporate Finance, Banking Risk Management, Alternative Investments and related areas.
I also supervised MPhil and Master theses at various institutions.
