Biography
Catherine is a human geographer whose research interests are the geographies of sport and the geographies of international migration.
Catherine received a BSc (hons) Geography from the University of Sheffield (2007-2010).
Catherine moved to Loughborough University to complete an MSc (Distinction) in Globalization, Space and Sport (2010-2011), and a PhD in Human Geography (2011-2015).
Prior to joining the University of Northampton in 2016, Catherine worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate on a number of research projects at Loughborough University and Warwick Business School.
Research Interests
Catherine's research specialism is the geographies of international migration, with a particular focus on its role in career progression.
Alongside this, Catherine is a specialist in the geographies of sport. Her PhD research investigated the role of international migration in the careers of English professional crickters.
Catherine is currently working on a research that explores the inclusivity, accessibility and sustainability of undergraduate fieldtrips in Geography, Earth and Environmental Science.
During her postdoctoral research Catherine undertook qualitative content analysis of the public enquiry into hydraulic fracturing (fracking) actvity in the North West of England. Catherine also worked on large-scale mixed methods project on the geographies of youth citizenship and the National Citizen Service (NCS).
In 2025, as part of an URB@N Project (Undergraduate Research Bursaries at Northampton) Catherine contributed to and supported the publication of a student led article:
