Biography
Claire graduated with a BA in Business Studies, specialising in Marketing. She spent thirteen years working in the corporate events sector predominantly for a global organisation. Claire’s industry experience includes responsibility for a wide variety of international events including sales conferences, product launches, exhibitions, awards dinners, incentive travel, training workshops and charity events.
In 2008 Claire entered the academic profession in order to use her practical experience to inspire and develop the event managers of the future. She is the programme leader for the BA in Events Management and has a passion for teaching with a particular research focus centred on developing innovative online learning materials. Her main areas of teaching specialism have been in Events Management, Tourism, Business Studies and dissertation supervision.
Research Interests
Claire's research focus includes LGBTQI+ events, safe spaces, groupwork, online peer assessment and authentic asssessment in events management education.
