Biography

Dawn Hibbert is currently the Head of REF and Research Support at the University of Northampton, where she leads the Universities REF (Research Excellence Framework) preparations and is involved in all aspects of research support, including research integrity, data management, open Research, Repository Management and quality research. 

Dawn previously worked as the Head of Research Policy & Information at the University of Strathclyde, with a focus on supporting good research practice, enabling informed decision-making and managing research quality and the Institutions REF submission preparations.

Prior to this Dawn worked as the Head of REF & Research Support at the University of Northampton where she lead on the institutes REF2021 submission and the successful implementation of a new CRIS (Current research information system), she provided a wide range of training for researchers, including impact and data management.

Before moving to Northampton Dawn worked as the Open Access Advocacy Librarian at the University of Strathclyde, where she created and implemented a successful strategy for maximum compliance with HEFCE’s Open Access Policy, whilst overseeing an RCUK budget of £260K leading to a substantial increase in open research at the University.

Prior to this Dawn worked as a Research Advisor for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Edinburgh University, introducing the College to open research, including the introduction and implementation of REF's open access policy.

Interested in all areas of scholarly communications, with a specific emphasis on open research and the repsonsible assesment of research.
