Personal profile


Djamel is a PhD researcher. His subject area is applied linguistics, and that includes theoretical linguistics, sociolinguistics, phonology, psycholinguistics, and language and digital media. His PhD research explores the pragmatics of Facebook and LinkedIn interactions, taking into consideration the use of different languages – classical/standard Arabic, Algerian dialect, French, and English – and the use of emoticons and emojis. He has a thorough understading of transmedia and multimoldaity. He also has experience in conducting educational research, specifically in English for Specific Purposes and Teaching English as Foreign/Second Language. His other interest is research and integrity. He was involved in a research project funding by UoN which has focused on the ethical implications of students:staff partnerships.
