Biography
Fiona Watkins is the Digital Resource & Collections Manager at the University of Northampton. Prior to this she was the Academic Librarian for the Schools of Art and Science & Technology. Having worked in HE libraries for nearly twenty years, she has particular interests in referencing and inclusive practices. She undertook a master’s in special educational Needs and Inclusion, graduating in 2022. As partial fulfilment of this degree she undertook research into student perceptions of referencing alongside referencing styles and dyslexia.
Research Interests
Fiona's research interest is focused around inclusion and barriers for students particularly those with dyslexia and Specific Learning Difference (SpLD). As a librarian she is also interested in how inclusive practices relate to libraries and information discovery and academic practice. Specific areas of interest are around referencing pedagogy and practice as well as the ways in which library tools can be adopted and adapted to improve inclusion.
