Biography

Helen is exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance personalised virtual reality therapy. Her work focuses on designing interventions that address complex behavioural issues.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the media, Helen has spent the bulk of her career with the BBC, where she continues to work as a journalist and producer. Alongside her academic research, she collaborates with the BBC Gen AI team to explore responsible AI applications in broadcasting and public service media. She also has her own AI assistant, affectionately known as ‘Percy’ (though only to her).

Helen is the founder of Headfest, a flagship mental health and wellbeing festival that brings together community, conversation, and creativity. She also sits on the Diversity and Inclusion Board for BBC East.
