Biography

Teaching in schools:

I was a teacher in primary and lower schools in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire from 1995 to 2004. During this period I was a deputy headteacher of an infants school and a headteacher of a lower school.

Throughout this period I was an art coordinator and maintained a personal and professional interest in art and art education. I was a member of the Advisory Group for Art in the Dearing review of the National Curriculum. I led CPD activities for teachers and teaching assistants in art education at local, regional and national level.

Teaching interests at university:

Most of my teaching is on the Foundation Degree Learning and Teaching (FDLT) and the BA Learning and Teaching (BALT) top up course.

PDT2016 Using experiences outside the school to inspire and support learning

PDT3003 Educational Debates in learning and teaching

 

Digital Learning Across Boundaries:

Since September 2016 I have been part of the Erasmus Plus project Digital Learning Across Boundaries (DLAB). Academics, teachers, students and pupils in the UK, Belgium, Denmark and Norway have worked together to break down the boundaries of the classroom walls by taking technology outdoors; break down the boundaries of subjects by connecting digital technology and the arts to STEM subjects and break down the boundaries of language and culture by working across these using technology and shared stories.
