Biography
Dr Jem Warren left the University of Chester in 2021 after 18 years, during the last 9 of which he had the role of Senior Project Manager to the Senior Management Team; with responsibility for the implementation and oversight of two different software systems for the recording, review and reporting of academic workloads. Prior to this he held a variety of positions in public sector performance management; working for the Police, Youth Justice Services and Higher Education, where he was often able to provide a bridge between the staff and the systems that they were required to use, resulting in improvements to the quality of the data held and reported. He completed his undergraduate degree and two Masters in Psychology with the Open University, for whom he has been Associate Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Counselling since 2014. He completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Chester in 2010 in the combined areas of Psychology, Community Safety and Social Policy; his was the first to be awarded by the University of Chester, passing with immediate conferral. The PhD proved to be a real asset when it came to the examination of academic workloads as it provided insights into attitudes to work and decision making in multidisciplinary teams.
He has experience of PhD Supervision, having had two students’ complete successful programmes of study and has also had the opportunity to act as External Examiner for a further two students. He has published a number of papers, book chapters and conference posters and is looking forward to his current PhD studies at UoN leading to further publications and conference presentations.
