I work at the University of Northampton as a Senior Lecturer in Education, Children and Young People. I am Programme Leader for Childhood and Youth and am a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
My research interests include youth transitions, inequality and the concept of fateful moments and critical turning points. I have published in the field of education and sociology, for example, the educational experiences of pregnant and mothering young women, methodological approaches for conducting research with children, children’s experiences of poverty and how children understand sexuality and the impact of sexualisation. I have also conducted research in the field of higher education, in particular, supporting students’ transitional experiences and the use of digital technology in assessment and feedback.
I coordinate and teach a number of undergraduate modules including:

• Transitions for Children, Young People and Families (Level 5)
• Dissertation (Level 6)
I am currently supervising Hadiza Azi's doctorate who is exploring:
The Impact of Culture on Maternal Health Service Utilization among Women of Reproductive Age (15-49) years In Bauchi State, North Eastern Nigeria: An Ethnographic Approach
I am currently an external examiner at two institutions.
