Biography

I am a technician demonstrator in Life Sciences at UON, supporting the biology research labs. I manage health and safety, training and equipment within the labs as well as supporting research projects and funding applications.

I gained my PhD at the University of Leicester in the study of genetics, circadian biology, evolution and entomology. I have a varied research history which includes industrial and academic research into cancer diagnostics, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, development, botany and parasitology.

Research Interests

My research interests cover a range of fields including, but not limited to:

  • Neuroscience and behaviour
  • Neurodegenerative diseases
  • Genetics
  • Cancer biology
  • Cell biology
  • Entomology
  • Evolution

I am currently supporting research projects studying cancer, Ataxia and Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy.

Other Responsibilities

I sit on the University's Technicians Commitment Steering group with a focus on supporting Technical staff to maximise their potential and get the appropriate recognition and personal development.

I sit on the Steering Group for NAIF (the Northampton Advanced Imaging Facility) as we try to establish it as a standalone facility.
