Hasan joined the Faculty of Business and Law in August 2017 with extensive experience in teaching, research, marketing and CSR consultancy in the UK and in Bangladesh. Previously he held academic appointments at University College London (UCL) and Royal Holloway, University of London (2014-2017).

Hasan is a trained quantitative researcher with experience of complex and multivariate data analysis, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He holds qualifications in Management (fully funded PhD as Dean’s Scholar, pass with no corrections), Applied Research in Social Sciences (ESRC-recognised MRes, with distinction) and International Business Economics (MSc, with distinction) from the Universities of London, Stirling and Dundee.

Teaching Interests

Hasan has been teaching Business Ethics, (Corporate) Social Responsibility and Sustainability at a number of UK universities over the past 5 years. He regularly delivers research-informed guest lectures on environmental pollution, modern slavery and issues related to (environmental) sustainability.

Research Interests

Hasan’s research focuses on the role of business in society as conceptualised through the concepts of (environmental) sustainability, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. His most recent research works aim to understand social and environmental responsibility in SMEs, environmental policymaking in developing country contexts and critical realism in organisational research.

Hasan’s work has been published in internationally recognised journals such as Local Environment, Annual Review of Social Partnerships, Quality & Quantity, Social Responsibility Journal and World Review of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, and in books edited by leading management scholars. Additionally, he has obtained numerous awards and funding for research excellence, notable among those are ‘Dean’s Scholar in Management’ award from Royal Holloway, University of London, ‘Santander Research Award’ from Santander UK, ‘Helen Shakleton Fund’ from Royal Holloway, University of London, ‘CSR Management Scholarship’ from HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration, and ‘Small Research Grant’ from University of Northampton.

Currently, Hasan is an Associate Editor of (1) The Annual Review of Social Partnerships (Routledge), which aims to bridge academic theory and practice with ideas about promoting the social good, and (2) Environment, Development and Sustainability (Springer) - an international, multidisciplinary journal covering all aspects of the environmental impacts of socio-economic development. He also reviews for numerous reputable journals on an ad-hoc basis.
