Muhammad welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD and DBA students whose research interests align with his areas of expertise: Organisational Psychology, Human Resource Management, Change Management, Complexity Management and Cross-cultural Management.
Research activity per year
Muhammad is a highly qualified academic with expertise in Human Resource Management, Organisational and Social Psychology, Information Technology, Complexity, and Project and Change Management. He holds a PhD in Organisational Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire. His doctoral research, titled “Equity Perception and Communication among Arab Expatriate Professionals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”, examined how Contextual Information influences expatriates’ perceptions and responses to Inequity in the workplace.
Following the completion of his PhD, Muhammad undertook postdoctoral research roles at both the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge and the Department of Psychology at the University of Bath. These positions enabled him to develop substantial expertise in research design, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Muhammad has extensive experience with a range of research methodologies and tools, including: (i) the design and administration of surveys, both in person and via platforms such as Qualtrics and Jisc; (ii) statistical analysis using both Frequentist and Bayesian approaches for cross-sectional and longitudinal data, utilising R, Python, SPSS and Excel; (iii) the application of Agent-based Modelling and Machine Learning to explore complex socio-economic, psychological, and organisational phenomena; and (iv) the use of Natural Language Processing techniques to examine textual data. Muhammad is also experienced in conducting interviews (in Arabic and English), and using NVivo software to analyse and organise large qualitative data sets such as interview transcripts and textual documents.
Muhammad holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). He has substantial experience in teaching (both online and in the classroom), as well as in leading MBA programmes, designing and delivering modules, and supervising Master’s and Doctoral research. He is adept at incorporating innovative teaching tools and technologies, and maintains a strong understanding of the current developments in UK higher education.

Muhammad is currently a first supervisor in two DBA research projects (Business & Management) and a second supervisor in one PhD research project (Psychology). In addition, he is currently supervising a large number of Master's research projects (Business & Management).

Muhammad worked for three years as an accountant in a large company.
Since October 2024, Muhammad has been acting as an External Examine for the Postgraduate Organisation Studies field of study at Bristol Business School, University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol.
Since June 2023, Muhammad has been leading the MBA programme; where he runs induction and weekly support sessions to help students settle into university life, organises social events and trips for the students and staff, and responds to the students’ enquires.
During the 2023–2024 academic year, Muhammad re-designed the MBA and MBA Finance programmes; and successfully led their ‘Major Change of Approval’ process, including the validation event.
As part of his responsibilities as a programme leader, Muhammad has been working closely with the Work-based Learning team to support the MBA students in their work placements.
