Biography
Parthiban studied law at Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University before pursuing an LLM in International Law at the same institution. He later completed an MPhil at South Asian University, India, where his research examined the role of the International Court of Justice’s advisory jurisprudence in managing functional conflicts between the United Nations political organs. His PhD, also from South Asian University, advanced a critical theory called the Revivalist approach to international law, critically engaging with the concept of universality and proposing Hybrid Universality.
Parthiban has held international research fellowships, including as a visiting doctoral fellow at The Hague Academy of International Law in 2022. His broader academic contributions include peer reviewing for legal journals and judging international moot court competitions.
Research Interests
Parthiban’s research spans various areas of public international law. His recent work focuses on critical theories of international law, the role of the International Court of Justice, and the history and universality of international law.
