Assoc. Prof. Dr Tatiana Gherman

Dr Tatiana Gherman, MBA (1st place, Cum Laude, Valedictorian), PhD, PGCertRDS, is an Associate Professor within the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Northampton, UK. She earned her PhD in Behavioural Operational Research from the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University, UK, with a fully funded fellowship. Additionally, she possesses executive certificates from the MIT Sloan School of Management (USA) and IIMB Bangalore (India) in analytics-oriented subjects. She is an Advance HE Certified External Examiner, UK and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Degree Supervision. 

She has over 15 years of teaching and research experience. Proven track record of delivering written research reports and articles, as well as research paper presentations at international conferences. She has published in various reputable journals, such as The Journal of the Operational Research Society, Annals of Operations Research, Expert Systems with Applications, and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, among others. She is a recipient of various academic honours and awards, among which the 2022 Diamond Research Award and the 2019 GDN INFORMS/Springer Researcher Award. She is also a Beta Gamma Sigma "Best in Business" awardee.

She has knowledge of and practical experience in the application of a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Her areas of research interest and fields of expertise include Responsible Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Business (Big) Data Science, Soft OR, Human-Computer Interaction, Workplace Studies, and Behavioural Studies. 

She is a WiDS (Women in Data Science) Ambassador (in collaboration with WiDS Stanford, USA); a member of the prestigious UK OR Society WORAN (Women in OR and Analytics Network); and a representative for the EURO WISDOM (Women in Society Doing OR and Management Science) Forum, associated with EURO – the Association of European OR Societies operating throughout Europe. 

She serves as an Associate Editor for several journals.

Areas of research interests and fields of expertise include Responsible Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning for Business, Business (Big) Data Science, Soft OR, Human-Computer Interaction, Workplace Studies, and Behavioural Studies.
