Personal profile


Terry is a Senior Lecturer in Wastes Management, in the Department of Environmental and Geographical Sciences. He received his first degree in Biology, from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill campus), followed by an MSc in Sustainable Wastes Management from the University of Leeds and a PhD from the University of Exeter. His PhD focused on sustainable waste management within the National Health Service in Cornwall.

He joined the University of Northampton in 2006 as a postdoctoral fellow, in the Wastes Management team, within the Department.

Research Interests

Terry’s research focuses on the sustainable management of waste and resources from different settings. This work has included projects examining links between the management of waste from healthcare facilities and the spread of infections (funded by the National Institute for Health Research),  and understanding how lifestyles and life courses impact upon waste management behaviours (funded by the Leverhulme Trust).

Current students are working on various projects including carbon management within the higher education sector, and waste management in developing countries.

Teaching Interests

Terry is Programme Leader for MSc Managing Waste and Environmental Resources. He lecturers on and is in some cases module leader on a range of modules including:
