Biography

Dr. Thuy Nguyen is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Northampton, with over 10 years of academic and industry experience. Before joining the University’s Accounting and Finance team, Dr. Nguyen spent five years teaching at the Foreign Trade University in Vietnam. She also has practical experience in the commercial banking sector, which has provided her with a strong understanding of the financial services industry.

Dr. Nguyen’s research interests lie in the development of financial services and the banking sector, with a particular focus on how these sectors influence broader economic performance under varying levels of institutional governance quality. Her current research explores the role of fintech in promoting liquidity, risk management, and financial inclusivity, while comparing its impact across both developing and developed country contexts. Through this work, she aims to deepen the understanding of how fintech can enhance access to financial services and improve economic outcomes.

Dr. Nguyen is also committed to supervising PhD students who are interested in the application of fintech in financial services. She is eager to support research that explores innovative solutions to enhance financial accessibility and efficiency in both traditional and emerging markets.
