Co-producing an unguided self-help intervention for navigating sexuality with transgender communities

Project Details

Description

The team will collaborate with people from transgender communities to create a self-help intervention that is accessible, inclusive, and freely available to support transgender people navigating their sexualities. Focus groups will be conducted to understand the needs of transgender people regarding their sexualities and to develop the intervention. The created intervention will then be advertised online for wider public use alongside pre and post measures and as form of evaluation of feasibility. A webinar will then be hosted to launch the intervention.

Layman's description

Working with transgender communities, the research team will co-produce a psychological self-help resource to support trans people in navigating their sexualities. Phase one will involve online focus groups with trans people asking them what they think about the project idea, what would be important to include in the resource, who should be the target audience, and how it should be designed. Phase two will involve an online workshop with both trans communities and professionals who work with trans people to decide on the content of the resource. The research team will then finalise the resource before the final stage of recruiting trans people to use the resource, monitoring their pre- and post-experiences as a form of evaluating its usefulness.
