Dementia Friendly Intergenerational Engagement: Data Analysis

Description

The Academy for Dementia Research and Innovation and Lutterworth College have been funded to carry out an intergenerational project which will see pupils from the college working side by side with people living with dementia in cookery and gardening classes from May-June 2022. ADRE and the College are collecting some evaluation data as part of the project, through two focus groups, feedback in session and facilitator feedback. ADRE would like to commission UoN to carry out an analysis of the data and collaborate on a paper for publication on this findings of this project.

This evaluation explored the impact of a joint project bringing together children attending a college and people living with dementia for a cookery and gardening intervention.

Key findings

There was a positive change for the pupils, who gained an understanding of what it means to live with dementia, they gained in confidence and developed communication skills. The collaboration brought enjoyment and pride for the pupils and the people living with dementia.
