Description
The University of Northampton undertake a range of projects with people with dementia, and work from this project will support this activity. Data collection with people living with dementia, carers/ relatives, service providers and researchers will focus on the design of information/ forms, and the processes associated with good practice in obtaining consent in dementia-focused research. The development of the study will enhance independent decision making in relation to research involvement, providing integrated, in-depth data and best practice recommendations to inform researchers and participants in national and international research contexts.
Layman's description
The study team are working with people living with dementia, carers/ relatives, service providers and researchers to develop best practice guidance on consent in dementia research. The findings of the project will be used to enhance current practice in research through the development of guidance and training for organisations, families, researchers and ethics committees.
