Eco-Creative Pedagogies: Training the Next Generation of Teachers on Green Skills and Resilience

Project Details

Description

This project seeks to address the theme of planetary resilience by fostering a collaborative network among schools, teachers, eco-artists, environmental activists, and think-tanks, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in both the UK and Turkey.

Our goal is to bring these diverse stakeholders together to facilitate mutual learning and the exchange of effective practices, with a particular emphasis on enhancing green skills in educational settings through innovative, eco-creative approaches. This initiative is designed to elevate ecological consciousness and integrate sustainable practices into educational curricula, drawing upon the ERG’s foundational work in ecological education and its established networks, including the Teachers’ network and UK team’s research on decolonial and eco-creative pedagogies in teaching climate
change in UK schools.

By creating synergies between these existing groups, we aim to co-develop a comprehensive teacher training programme.

This programme will empower teachers with the necessary skills and methodologies to teach environmental awareness innovatively and creatively. Our approach addresses the critical need for culturally responsive educational frameworks and alternative, eco-artistic pedagogical strategies to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to act as stewards of the environment and inspire a sense of responsibility to contribute to a resilient planet.
