Formation of a university spin-out that delivers XR-based translational mental health solutions

Project Details

Description

This project aims to establish a spin-out company dedicated to the development and commercialization of innovative, clinically-proven mixed-reality (MR) solutions for mental health treatment and support. The company will pursue a blended funding model, combining public funding opportunities with private venture capital investment. This funding will support the development of scalable, profitable, and clinically effective digital solutions for deployment in healthcare institutions and direct-to-consumer channels. The project benefits from a strategic partnership with St Andrew's Healthcare, a leading UK provider of specialist mental healthcare services, primarily for patients with complex mental health needs referred through the National Health Service (NHS). St Andrew's Healthcare will serve as an early adopter and clinical validation site, with the potential to evolve into a joint venture partnership for specific product lines.

Layman's description

We're starting a new company that uses virtual and augmented reality (like those cool video game headsets, but for healthcare!) to create better ways to treat mental health problems. We're getting help from a big mental health provider in the UK, and we'll be looking for funding from both the government and private investors to make these tools available to everyone.
