Investigating the cryogenic efficiency of Cryospray 59 on a skin surrogate material

Project Details

Description

Cryospray 59 is a commercially available product used by health care professionals to freeze skin lesions such as warts and verrucae. The manufacturer, Cuxson Gerrard wishes to commission a small research project to investigate the cryogenic efficiency of the product.

We aim to investigate the rate of freezing, depth of freeze and minimum temperature achieved by Cryogen 59 as a method of cryotherapy when applied as a spray. A surrogate material to replicate the thermal conductivity of skin will be utilised for this experiment and heat transfer will be measured using thermocouples placed on the impingement and non-impingement surfaces of the tested material.
