Abstract
Accompanying manifestations of autism spectrum disorders are changes in sensory processing leading to hyper- or hypersensitivity and problems in sensory perception and integration. Thus, multisensory interventions represent a natural and popular response to the increased sensory needs of people with autism. Therefore, an in-depth evaluation of these therapeutic-educational interventions is needed. The aim of the study presented in this scientific monograph was to analyse the effective factors of the multi-sensory environment of a white Snoezelen room for young people with autism. Research results suggest that Snoezelen represents a safe environment in which the sensory components contributed to relaxation of the participants, which subsequently supported their social interactions and participation in the activities offered. The implementation of the Snoezelen environment as a targeted therapeutic intervention aimed at achieving changes in sensory processing remains an open question for further research.
