Abstract
Benzodiazepine dependence is a hypothetical construct for the adaptive changes that occur as a result of drug exposure. Two measures are usually considered to reflect dependence: the development of tolerance to a drug’s effects, and the incidence of abstinence signs on drug withdrawal.
