Corporate Liability for Carbon Emissions in Aviation: Legal and Business Frameworks

Research output: Contribution to Book/ReportChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Aviation has long been recognised as a driver of economic growth and global connectivity. However, the sector's environmental footprint, particularly in terms of carbon emissions, has become an increasing cause for concern. Responsible for approximately 2–3% of global carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and growing rapidly, aviation is now under significant pressure to decarbonise its operations and align with global climate targets. This aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 13 (Climate Action), underscoring the urgency for environmentally sustainable practices in global industries.
