Abstract

Scientific monograph is with its focus orientated towards presentation of theoretical basis and research in the area of assessment in early childhood intervention directed towards children with risk development at the age from 0 to 6 years and their families. It emphasizes cooperation of professionals in early childhood intervention and families, while the family gains a status of partners in the decision process in diagnostic planning and intervention. From this perspective, the described system of planning is a unique in the circumstances of Slovak Republic.
Authors of the monograph analyse current state in the field of system approach in early childhood intervention in the circumstances of Slovak republic and they present scientific knowledge from other European countries. In the research study, they conducted a pilot verification of the online research and assessment instrument ICF-CY, which is based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health for Children and Youth. Presented research study was processed into particular content items; from basic information about family and child, through assessment observations of individual sessions with children and families, assigning categories of ICF-CY and analyses of strengths and weaknesses of children, to formulation of gross goals and creating a plan of family support. Scientifically orientated monograph consists of original author direct examples from the pilot study conducted during the international ICF-Train project carried out in the years 2012-2014.
