Abstract
In October 2018, the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) commissioned the Institute for Public Safety, Crime and Justice (IPSCJ) at the University of Northampton to carry out a workforce survey on their behalf. Survey areas covered included job satisfaction; wellbeing and resilience; opportunities for career progression and personal development; support, supervision and leadership; reward and recognition. In 2021, the IPSCJ repeated the original survey conducted in 2018, which also included some additions based on recent events such as the impact of Covid-19 and questions relating to EMSOUs creation of a new delivery plan. This report discusses the findings of the 2021 survey relating them to the original findings in 2018. 54% (590) of the workforce completed the survey in 2021, which is similar to the response rate in 2018.
