Abstract

The adoption and inclusion of Student Study-techniques and Learning Development (SSLD) in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) can be a significant developmental strategy for enabling students in their development as life-long learners. SSLD is an academic scheme that shows to be beneficial to students as well as institutions. However, to adopt and ensure the value of SSLD, institutions need to foster its role to improve students’ learning experiences and academic achievements. SSLD creates an engaging learning environment for students to reflect on what they have been taught, develop fresh ideas, and enhance their capacity to learn. It offers a structured approach for students to successfully adapt to the rigorous demands and academic standards they will encounter in HEIs. Thus, this paper suggests that HEIs embrace this pedagogical approach fully. This paper presents an overview of SSLD, its positive impacts, and concludes with insights concerning strategies to promote SSLD in HEIs.
